TV features and Things to consider before buying a TV. LCD, LED, plasma TV comparison

TV features and Things to consider before buying a TV. LCD, LED, plasma TV comparison.
Recently I got my poor salary increased by a few so decided to go for buying a TV in my new home. However I was confused when I visited a TV showroom. The new models of TV were so sleek and attractive that I had gone mad. In addition, salesman gave me such useless information which even increased my confusion. Well needless to say, I went through the basic differences between LCD, LED and plasma TV. I compared the features of LCD, LED and Plasma based on my requirement and came to know about some good features of LCD, LED and Plasma.

Below I am mentioning my finding s about LCD, LED and Plasma TV which you should know before buying a TV-
Resolution
Resolution means number of pixels per square inch or line and columns used for display. High definition TV has maximum resolution of 1920x1080. HD TV resolution is called as 1080P. Here P defines Progressive scan format. This helps in improvement of picture quality on TV screen. Basically HD improves picture quality like anything and cost alsoJ. However if you are not very much concerned about money, then I will suggest you to have HD video sources like blu ray, laptop with 1080P output or latest HD channel along with high resolution TV and enjoy to the fullest.
Contrast Ratio –
This means intensity difference between maximum bright and maximum dark color. Contrast ratio is calculated by measurement of complete white and complete black color. TV manufactures always provide you inflated contrast ratio. But don’t do your analysis on the values provided by TV manufacturers. The contrast ratio measured by the method of ANSI / Native / Static is much perfect. TV manufacturer’s mentions this information very rarely so if possible get this information and decide.
Brightness –
In terms of TV Luminescence means light emitted from TV screen. Luminescence is measured in terms of candles per square meter. If brightness is more than 550 candles per square meter then TV is of good quality in terms of brightness. Analyze the picture quality by various trial and errors like, switch on all the lights, the switch on only one lamp. If TV has provision of screen sensor which adjusts brightness based on the light in the room then don’t miss it.
Ports and Video Inputs –
Make sure that TV has composite video input socket, HDMI socket and USB Ports. Video input is required for joining cable and satellite modem. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is required for gaming devices connection, laptop connection and similar high transmission multimedia devices. USB port will help you to attach Pen drive, Portable Music Players, Mobiles phones to TV.
Aspect Ratio and Picture Modes –
Aspect ratio means ratio of screens length and width. For movies 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio is best choice. However, most of the TV’s use 4:3 format transmissions. To avoid this problem choose TV which has wide and zooming format facility. This will give you better options to choose your display settings.
Response Time and Refresh Rates –
The minimum time required for pixel to change its color or brightness means response time. Most of HD TV’s has response time of 8 milliseconds, 4 milliseconds or 2 milliseconds. Lesser the response time better is the picture quality. Low response time reduces ghosting or blurring to great extent and new colors are changed instantly. The number of lines refreshed per second is the refresh rate. If refresh rate is lower then fast moving pictures will display blur. Therefore more the refresh rate better is the picture quality.
Size –
Size of TV will depend on the distance between your usual sitting position and TV position.
Sound System –
Today all TV’s has best sound quality provided. But if you are games freak then you may think of additional speakers and sound system. Solely depend on you. Default sound system in all TV is just perfect.
Comparison between LCD, LED and Plasma –
LCD –
Display – LCD uses Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light (CCFL) for illuminating the screen. Therefore LCD’s are thick as compared to LED and plasma.
Good – LCD Energy consumption is less as compared to Plasma and having low cost as compared to other TV’s. 32 inches LCD will cost around 35000 in India.
Bad – LCD’s performance is poor in dark room compared to Plasma.
LED –
Display – LED TV uses Light Emitting Diode (LED) for illuminating screen. LED TV’s are thin as compared to LCD TV.
Good – Sleek size. Utilizes less energy as compared to LCD and shows better picture quality than LCD.
Bad – Expensive and cost is high.
Plasma –
Display – Image gets illuminated on its own by gases Neon and Xenon. Plasma TV does not require back lighting for illumination.
Good – Sharp Contrast, fast moving picture quality is very good and wide viewing angle provides good quality picture.
Bad – Use more energy than LCD and LED. Screen will show reflection when room has bright light.

Cheers…
Happy Shopping!!!
